Workshop I | Sustainale Conservation of Built Heritage & Economic Sustainability
The workshop covered two themes: the sustainable conservation of built heritage and economic sustainability. This first session aimed to explore strategies that harness the potential of built heritage conservation while also promoting sustainable economic growth, through the promotion of maintenance, rehabilitation, energy efficiency, and sensitive adaptive reuse.
Participants examined the economic potential of heritage, considering its role in job creation and economic growth, seeking to understand and leverage alternative means for heritage-based investments beyond traditional sectors such as urban development, tourism, and creative industries.
Through collaboration, knowledge exchange and capacity building the participants gained a comprehensive understanding of sustainable conservation practices contributing to the broader goal of sustainable and inclusive development in local and regional contexts.
